AgeTech Solution Challenge

The number of people in Sweden over eighty will increase by more than 50 per cent in the next ten years. This will present enormous challenges for society, as well as some interesting opportunities. New collaborations between the public sector and the tech and innovation industries will be needed in order to meet both existing and completely new demands.

People living longer than ever before is a demographic megatrend that is motivating more and more entrepreneurs, innovators and investors around the world to focus on AgeTech – an emerging tech industry that aims to improve the quality of life for the elderly. Some believe that AgeTech today is where FinTech found itself back in 2007, and that it will become a mainstream industry in the coming decade. A perfect opportunity for dynamic innovators, in other words!

That’s why Uminova Innovation is launching the AgeTech Solution Challenge – a competition to find innovative solutions that will increase the quality of life for the elderly. The needs of pensioners vary widely and can change quickly – just like their purchasing power. Competition entries can focus on everything from healthcare and caring services to lavish ‘once in a lifetime’ luxuries. The market potential for the right idea is enormous – plus you’ll get the chance to build a company AND make a positive impact on society.

We will help the winner develop their idea into a thriving company. Our business developers have approximately 200 years of combined business development experience from a wide range of industries. Several have embarked on entrepreneurial journeys themselves. Our business support is delivered based on your specific needs and inengaging workshops and personal meetings with your dedicated business developer, who can quickly activate our entire team if required. Sales methodology, product development, business and pricing models, law, marketing, PR and brand strategy are all examples of disciplines we can help you with.

We have access to a huge network – local, national and global – and can open doors that would otherwise stay shut for you. We can help build your team and find experienced mentors, ambitious students and established business figures. We can also connect you with larger companies looking for innovative upstarts, or with investors looking for the next big thing in tech.

Below you will find the form in English. Vill du ansöka på svenska? Klicka här. The competition entry requires you to fill in an NABC, plus some additional information about your business idea and team. It takes about 15 minutes.

Criteria

• We are an incubator in Västerbotten, but can also help a smaller number of entrepreneurs in other locations. You can therefore compete from anywhere in Sweden.
• Your business idea has the potential to improve the lives of the elderly.
• Your business idea solves a problem in an innovative way.
• Tech is or can be a part of your solution.
• Your business idea has the potential to scale up for large markets (i.e not consulting).

If you already receive business support from the Uminova Innovations incubator you are unable to compete in this competition.

The last day to send in your application is January 31st, 2023. Additional information may be required, so remember to submit the phone number and email address of the business idea’s primary contact person. Your competition entry is treated with complete confidentiality.

The winners of the competition will be contacted by the end of February 2023.
